Lampang Cultural Street Market is a tourist attraction that is not worth missing. If you are planning a trip to this city in northern Thailand, this place is a must-stop. Shopping, history, and entertainment come together here.
Where is Lampang Cultural Street Market?
The market is located on Wang Nuea Street in Wiang Nuea District. The street connects two important sites: Wat Pratu Ton Phueng and Wat Pratu Pong. These beautiful temples are also good landmarks.
Opening hours
The market is open every Friday from 4:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Important
It’s a good idea to have cash with you because the market vendors don’t have card-compatible payment terminals.
If you are going to the market with your own transport, it is best to arrive early to get a parking space. Finding a parking space later can be a big problem.
What are the characteristics of Lampang Cultural Street Market?

This place is divided into 2 smaller markets:
Kad Wiang Nuea – various activities are organized here.
Kad Mua Kua Laeng – is a traditional city market with a promenade.
This gives you the opportunity to buy souvenirs and participate in cultural events.
Lampang Cultural Street Market – what does it offer?
The selection of products is quite large. There are stands with, among others:
- food,
- clothes,
- toys,
- handicrafts,
- jewelry,
- ceramics,
- items made of wood,
- collectibles.
This is part of what can be purchased on the market. Affordable prices are also a huge advantage. Therefore, a wide selection of goods and attractive prices encourage souvenir shopping.

Moreover, as I mentioned above, various cultural events are organized here. You can listen to traditional Thai music or watch performances.

It is also worth trying the local cuisine. Lampang Cultural Street Market boasts many stalls with delicious food, which allows you to taste various snacks and dishes. Every time we go there, we buy some tasty snacks and food.
Attractions near the market

There are other important tourist attractions on Wang Nuea Street. Along the way, it is impossible not to notice the centuries-old monument Chao Ya Suta Stupa, which is of great importance to the local people. This is where the ruins of Wat Kak Kaeo are, and the stupa is part of the complex.

Wat Pratu Pong is over 200 meters away. This is a very beautiful Lanna-style temple and is also a good place to visit.
Lampang Cultural Street Market – shopping in a great atmosphere

This is one of those places in Lampang that you must visit. I will also mention the wonderful atmosphere, especially in the evening. This place has its own unique vibe because it was created thanks to the community initiative and promotion provided by the commune. This market is a great opportunity to relax, buy souvenirs, and eat something tasty. These are certainly good reasons to make a trip to the market.
