Shabu Shabu – what is it?
If someone is not familiar with this type of dish, I will briefly explain what it is.
Shabu Shabu comes from Japan and is a one-pot dish. Various ingredients are cooked in one pot, such as thinly sliced beef, vegetables, and eggs. The cooked ingredients are then dipped in the sauce and eaten. Currently, the name Schabu Schabu has a broader meaning because seafood, poultry, and pork can also be eaten in this way.
There are different types of pots for preparing this dish. In modern restaurants, this is usually a large pot divided into two parts for cooking. You can also often come across older types of pots like the one in the photo below. The convex round part is used for frying ingredients, while around it there is a part for cooking in water. Depending on the restaurant, you can find different types of pots.

Vieng Shabu offers a very large selection of ingredients for Shabu Shabu, which means that many people will find something for themselves there. You can choose:

The pot has two parts – each part contains a different type of soup. The dish is placed in the center of the table on an electric burner. Just wait until the soup boils, and you can start cooking the ingredients and enjoying your meal. There are several soups to choose from, we had two types.
The meat is sliced very thinly, which is a plus. Thanks to this, it cooks very quickly, as do other ingredients. This means you don’t have to wait long to eat.
Moreover, in the meantime, when the first batch of ingredients is ready, the next ones are put into boiling water. This is an excellent solution because continuity is maintained this way. This means there are no long breaks in cooking and eating. For dessert, you can choose ice cream (there are several flavors to choose from) or fruit.
Another advantage, apart from the large selection of food, is the cleanliness of the restaurant. The place is very neat and well-maintained.
