Ban Pa Miang is a quiet village in Lampang Province, located away from the big cities. Here you can relax and get to know the local community that has been living here for over two hundred years. It is an ideal attraction if you want to spend some time in an area filled with beautiful natural views.

Ban Pa Miang – what exactly is this place?

Ban Pa Miang is the name of the village and the community. The history of the tribe dates back 200 years. The local people mainly cultivate rice, coffee, and persimmons and collect wild tea leaves. In addition, the lifestyle initiated by the ancestors of the community is still maintained here. In this way, old values and traditions are respected, which helps to better understand the culture of Ban Pa Miang.

When it comes to the topography of the region, the village is located about 1000 meters above sea level. Mountains and forests dominate here. There are also streams and waterfalls.

In 2002, the local people began to conduct business, which led to the development of tourism. For guests, accommodation with meals is offered in many houses. And speaking of which.

We decided to spend two days there and stayed at Long-Pa Homestay (Thai name: หลง-ป่า โฮมสเตย์ หลงใหลป่าเหมี้ยง).

The price for a cottage with a terrace was 600 THB per night per person and included 2 meals: evening and morning.

The house pleasantly surprised us, and this applies to everything – its location, appearance, and equipment. There is everything that such a place should have, i.e., a bed, a toilet, small tables, and cabinets for necessary accessories, etc.

The terrace is also nicely adapted to the needs of relaxation. Outside, you can sit on comfortable chairs or use a hammock.

In addition, the house is by the stream, and there is a swing by the water. We took advantage of this option and went to play on it. However, you should be careful when entering the water, because the stones are wet and it is quite slippery. But there is a lot of joy.

We will also mention the meals. The food is very tasty, and the staff’s approach to service is commendable. The people bringing the food are very quiet and do not disturb the guests, which we experienced in the morning.

There is a sunrise viewpoint tour available for an additional fee. It costs 600 THB, and the departure from the house is early morning, between 4 and 5 a.m.

Walking around Ban Pa Miang

An evening or morning walk around the village has its own charm. This place is very quiet, and it seems that time has stopped there – of course, we mean that in a positive way.

While exploring Ban Pa Miang, we went to a café to try the local coffee. The drink was very tasty and had a distinct flavor.

We also saw the Love Bridge of Flowers and the surrounding area. Additionally, you can come across street art in the form of murals on the walls of houses.

Wat Pa Miang

Another place worth visiting. The architecture of this small temple perfectly reflects the character of northern Thailand. On the back wall of the building are exquisitely made paintings.

The interior is also decorated with paintings that depict scenes from the life of Buddha. Moreover, there is a statue of Him and smaller images and exhibits.

Key Information

Location

Ban Pa Miang is located in the Chae Son Sub-District of Mueang Pan District in Lampang Province. The distance from Lampang city is about 86 km to the north by road 1157 or 1035.

It is also close to Chiang Mai – over 60 km to the east. This place is located near the border with Chiang Mai Province.

From Lamphun, the distance is almost 80 km to the northeast.

Getting there

This is where it gets interesting and a bit tricky. There is no direct public transport. The best option is your own transport – car or motorcycle.

We went by car, but we decided to leave it in the parking lot in Chae Son Park at Camping Service. From there we called the owners to pick us up.

The decision was dictated by the fact that the road to Ban Pa Miang is narrow and winding. For people who do not know the route and terrain well, driving a car may not be comfortable.

Tourists often come here on motorcycles, although you should be very careful on the road when traveling by this means of transport.
