Papacraft – café and handicraft in Lampang

Papacraft is definitely a special place in Lampang. This café is a perfect choice if you want to have a good time and learn more about local crafts. Here you will experience it and see many beautiful items.

Papacraft – Love & Dreams

Why “Love & Dreams”? This is the motto of Papacraft, because this place was born out of love and dreams.

The beginnings date back 20 years ago, when Papa designed a diary out of scraps of leather and mulberry paper. At that time, he was delivering paper to famous handicraft shops in Chiang Mai to earn money to support his family. He also had a dream that after moving to Uttaradit, he would save money and do something he loved to do.

Unfortunately, after 20 years, Papa’s dreams became just memories. Nevertheless, he continued to pursue his passion, although not professionally.

Things changed a few years ago thanks to the support Papa received from his children. He began to follow his dreams again and create different patterns and techniques. It led to the creation of the “Buppha Gamlai” (garland bangle) jewelry collection, inspired by the delicacy of flowers and leaves. It also gave rise to a unique café and gallery in Lampang.

In addition, the café also has other interesting places worth seeing. Leaving the main room, on the other side, you can see another building. This is where the workshop is located. Thanks to this, during your visit, you can watch craftsmen at work.

Behind the workshop there is a zone with tables by the Wang River. We decided to sit there, since the weather was nice. There are trees here, which provides a lot of shade. It is especially useful on sunny and hot days.

Papacraft – prices of snacks, drinks and handicrafts

Once we were comfortably seated, we ordered drinks and snacks. The prices are very friendly. A drink and a piece of cake will cost you around 100 THB per person. By the way, as befits an artistic café, the drinks and cake were artistically decorated. The visual effect is as delightful as the taste.

You will also find ceramics, wood products and many other interesting things here. So you can choose something beautiful for your loved ones, family or friends. We bought a few things, as local businesses need to be supported, and the jewelry is beautifully made. Speaking of jewelry making.

Craft techniques

At Papacraft, they have experimented with different techniques and patterns over the years. First, they studied tie-dye and batik. Then, they applied these methods to leather materials.

Various natural molding materials were also tested in order to obtain the appropriate colors used in the collection. The result is jewelry that combines several features – beauty, strength, and flexibility. Moreover, we personally saw the advantages of this jewelry.
