Lampang Governor’s Residence is not a typical tourist attraction. As the name suggests, it is related to public administration. Nevertheless, you can visit it during a city tour and see interesting objects there.

Lampang Governor’s Residence – an unusual attraction

Buildings intended for public service employees are rarely seen as tourist attractions. It is primarily due to the nature of the activity. It is also often forbidden for outsiders to stay in such places. However, in Lampang it is a bit different. You can enter the Governor’s Residence, although you are not allowed to go inside the buildings. This creates the opportunity to see something unusual, because how often do you visit governors’ residences?

What is inside the Lampang Governor’s Residence?

The first thing that catches your eye is the beautiful house. It is not a modern building, which is a good thing. The architecture refers to the Thai style and gives it a local vibe.

There is a lot of vegetation around the house, which provides shade and at the same time makes the place seem cozy. Thanks to this, the building looks like a real Thai house with a lovely garden.

Walking around the residence is very pleasant. Here you can see works of art in the form of statues made of vessels and other objects depicting abstract and plant forms.

Since we are in Lampang, there is also a carriage on the grounds of the residence. The city is famous for this means of transport and is the only place in Thailand where it is still used.

Location

The Governor’s Residence is located in the Hua Wiang Sub-District of Lampang District near the Wang River on the south side.

Attractions

The famous Kad Kong Ta Night Market is nearby. The distance is 600 m. We visited the residence on our way back from the market.

If we are talking about Kad Kong Ta Market, then there is Wang River Street Art. It is an opportunity to see beautiful murals related to the city. Most of the paintings are located along the river near the market.

In the area there are also the Ratsada Phisek Bridge (300 m) and Wat Chetawan (600 m).

It is worth visiting this place during your trip to Lampang. If you are passing by, you can definitely stop here for a while. Lampang Governor’s Residence is an unusual attraction, and for that reason alone it is worth checking out.
